Happy New Year

The beginning of a new year is a great time to reflect on past accomplishments and strategize future steps for 2012. As I search for topics, trends and strategizes to help woman business owners grow their businesses, it gets me thinking about what separates the most successful. Having worked with small business owners my whole life, below are some of the common qualities that the most successful have embraced.

1.  They manage their entrepreneurial passion with purpose.

2.  They lead with vision that inspires others. In order for your business to grow, you have got to be able to share that vision with your team.

3.  They can fish; they know how to generate their own sales. You can ask them anytime what they do and their evaluator pitch comes on and comes across naturally.

4.  They are collaborators.

5.  They got guts; they listen to their instincts and have initiative. No one has to tell them what to do, they just get it done.

6.  They invest in professional development; they are life learners and teachers.

7.  They monitor the bottom line by staying in touch with the numbers, which is key to growth.

8.  They are disciplined and accept responsibility.

9.  They listen and pay attention to customers, vendors and employees.

10. They are respectful, honest and cherish high integrity.

11.     They keep balance. All work and no play is not good for you, it’s important to keep balance in your life.

12.   They are thankful.

These are not the only successful qualities, but they are some of the most important ones. Throughout the year our mission is to help you Get Ready, Get Set and GROW your businesses. The Michigan Women’s Marketplace will provide articles, recommend books, webinars and tools to help you be the most successful woman business owner you can be.
